An Operating Enterprise is a business enterprise that conducts economic activities by generating, trading, or selling a product(s) or service(s). Such a business entity is referred to as a going concern business. In business valuation, the principle of “going concern” is the fundamental standard of value where the business entity being valued is assumed will be in operation well into the future which permits business valuators to apply various market, cost and income-based methods to estimate the fair market value. Without the “going concern” assumption, where the business is viewed as an operating enterprise, the liquidation method may be the main method applicable.
