The Equity Value of a business entity is an estimate of the price at which 100% of the outstanding shares in the entity would be exchanged between a willing buyer and a willing seller. In business valuation analysis, business valuators estimate the fair market value of a business entity by applying analytical techniques under the market, cost and income methods. The fair market value arrived at from the analysis is the enterprise value which includes both the value of the business to both equity and debt providers. To determine the equity value of the business entity, business valuators deduct from the enterprise value the market value of debt.
