DR. BENNET KPENTEY (DBA, CVA, CPC)

Dr. Bennet KPENTEY is a strategy and financial consultant as well as a credentialed business valuer. He is the founder and Chief Executive of Sync Consult, a management and financial consulting firm in Ghana. He has 25 years’ professional experience. Prior to establishing Sync Consult, he worked with Deloitte and Touché Tohmatsu and PricewaterhouseCoopers in management positions. At PricewaterhouseCoopers Africa Central (2000-2002), he served in management position with a key role in corporate finance services. At Deloitte & Touché (1995-2000) he rose to the position of Principal Consultant and was involved in strategy and corporate finance work. He was a Lecturer in Strategic Management at the Executive MBA Programme of the University of Ghana Business School (2009-2018) having also served as Lecturer in Strategic Management for the DPP Masters programme of The Geneva Graduate Institute, Switzerland (2013-2018). He is currently the President of AACVA, the Africa Charter of the world's largest business valuation body. He serves on the Advisory Council of the Global Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (GACVA), a group of international business valuation chapters across the globe. Bennet has provided professional expertise in the valuation of businesses across several sectors including valuation of intangible assets such as brand name, customer list, licenses and concessions. Bennet’s international credentials in the field of business valuation include his position as the President of the African Association of Consultants, Valuators and Analysts (AACVA), a member Chapter of NACVA of the United States, the largest association of business valuators in the world. He Co-Chaired the NACVA international business valuation conference in 2018. He also delivered the keynote at the Royal Institute of Surveyors (RICS) conference in Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa (2017). Earlier, he served for five years on the IFRS Committee which was set up in the United States in 2010 to make presentations to the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) on valuation issues arising from the numerous accounting standard exposure drafts on the harmonisation of GAAP and IFRS. He was one of thirteen international business valuation professionals who co-authored “Guide to Fair Value under IFRS” a complete guide for business valuation under IFRS in May 2010. Bennet also co-authored the ‘Enterprise Map of Ghana’ with Professor Sutton of the LSE. This book profiled Ghana’s industrial capabilities and the origin of such capabilities (2012). This book is a comprehensive analysis of the industrial sector and covers 50 large manufacturing firms and 20 SMEs in Ghana. He has made international presentations in business valuation in Ghana, United States, Singapore, Dubai, China, and South Africa. Bennet holds a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA, Finance) from the Walden University, Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA (2019) and an MA in International Relations (Economics Major) from the International University of Japan. He also holds a BA in Economics and Geography from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana. He is a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) from NACVA, in the United States of America (2006) and Chartered Professional Consultant (CPC) from the Consultants Institute, USA (2000). He is also a member of the Strategic Management Society (SMS), USA.
